I figured Ubuntu needed something iconic using the traditional logo and font in a simple layout. Something that looks good in a store or on camera or something. Also something that could be used to represent all versions of Ubuntu in one identifying and unifying design. I did design (and like) the glass bordered one, but after a suggestion for a borderless design I came to like this version even better. In the PSD file there are borders in the layers for the older border designs if you want them.
